Freesat deal agreed with Retra

Freesat was launched on 6 May 2008 by both BBC and ITV at a press conference in London, UK. The units were said to be available immediately in some major stores.

Speaking at the retailer organisation's annual conference, Bryan Lovewell, Retra’s chief executive, said: "Needless to say we are delighted that this agreement has been reached". Mr Lovewell continued, "I am particularly pleased that independents will be able to sell Freesat ahead of the Beijing Olympic Games, which take place in August.

 

Mr Lovewell has now joined Freesat’s steering committee.

 

Independent retailers matching the right criteria will be able to place their Freesat orders with various authorised  distributors, BDC, Double D, Euronics and Eurosat.

A brand new digital satellite TV service offering free HD TV programming at no extra cost coming from the BBC and ITV in the form of FREESAT.
